It’s been an eventful week to say the least…quite stressful and I was so relieved when the weekend came around.  Sometimes though, when something is playing on your mind – work, deadlines or whatever it is – it’s hard to stop your mind from doing mental acrobatics, when all you really want to do is just chill.  If you can’t chill out in the weekend…when can you?

Fortunately my book came to the rescue…along with a good cuppa and a very supportive partner, I was able to unwind and hit the reset button. I’m reading ‘Meet Me at Cupcake Cafe’ by Jenny Colgan and it’s all about following your dreams and being brave.  When the main character Issy is made redundant from her boring 9-5 she decides it’s now or never and with her redundancy package and a bank loan, she decides to set up her own cafe…making cupcakes.  Yep, it’s one of those books you can curl up on the sofa with, make a good cuppa and get lost in the story line.  A few hours of reading this beauty of a book and I pretty much forgot my stressful week.

Yesterday afternoon we went into town and picked up some goodies from Selfridges food hall…I know it’s hardly thrifty, but when a girls down in the dumps sometimes only a work of art like this banoffie pie cupcake can rescue her!!

Right I’m off to do some cleaning and continue reading my book….there’s nothing better than finding a book you can really get into, the story line grips you and you’re hooked! It’s good when books can be an escape!

Are you reading a good book at the moment? If so please recommend some good reads! Comments welcome 🙂

  1. Hey Sara and thank you for a delightfully charming post 🙂

That book sounds like a great read and I’ll keep a look out for it at the finer used book-stores I frequent! Is it a work of fiction or non-fiction? Either way, I love stories that focus on those who follow their own path rather than the path of another. Thanks for the heads up 🙂

On Thursday, I had a bunch of delicious cupcakes BUT nothing like the banoffie pie cupcake you pictured. I LOVE banoffie pie and I’m now officially jealous of you!!

Take care Sara and all the best. Hope your weekend wet better than your last week.
