I thought last weekend couldn’t get any better – I was celebrating my birthday with loved ones and bathing in the glorious summer sun and then suddenly my mum spotted a sign that read ‘Everything 50p!’ outside the entrance of a local garden and I’d be damned it was a 50p yard sale.
But readers, this was no ordinary back garden sale – there were clothes galore, bags, shoes, vintage goods glistening in the summer sun and jewellery and make up to boot! I think my mum and I had found thrifty fashion heaven.
Every item that we brought cost 50p, except a beautiful vintage chair that I couldn’t resist which was £5.
My mum picked up lots of items, my favourite was a practically new crème Wallis jacket for….yes…you’ve guessed it…. 50p…I think she looks like a happy bunny in these pictures! Here’s a pic of my mum wearing the bargain find.
I picked up a few goodies myself – a few dresses, a practically new top, a pair of sandals, a leather vintage purse and small bag, a vintage wooden chair and another chair with wheels – which is great for when we have guests as our sofa is tiny! All this for under a tenner!! This yard sale coupled with a trip to the local cinema to watch Godzilla in 3D was the perfect finish to a perfect weekend.
Have you been to any good yard sales? If so I would love to hear what bargains you’ve found. Here’s some pictures of the thrifty treasures I found.
A lovely jubelee, hubbly bubbly weekend. Perfec in every weather. We even had the weather. And everything really was 50p!! I am thinking of selling some of my purchases to a local vintage shop. whereby they take 50% of the shop sale price. Reminds me of a shop in New Zea Sara, I found a long floaty dress. When I was wearing it I went into, shall I say, a more upmarket shop, the assistant commented on it, she knew the brand. When I told her I got it from the thrift shop for 25 dollars and it still had the price tag of 225 dollars on it, she almost fell over…lol
