Our great escape!!!

A few weeks ago, my partner and I went on our great weekend get-away to the beautiful Cotswolds and it was a truly magical weekend that I will never forget. We waited several months for this great weekend escape; every day I crossed off the days on the calendar and suddenly the big day arrived and we had suitcases packed and it was bye bye Birmingham; hello Dormy House in the calming, country Cotswolds (there’s a bit of alliteration for you!).

It was a surreal escape, it’s crazy to think that just over an hours’ drive from Birmingham, lies this magical country town where the scenery will leave you mesmerized. We arrived in a dreamy, sleepy village where I caught a glimpse of what it must have been like to live in the Pride and Prejudice days!  Everything just slowed right down.  As we drove towards our destination – a beautiful hotel retreat called Dormy House, we saw a lady horse riding and we soon realised that living in the Cotswolds is a very different life indeed!

I will get the romantic, soppiness out of the way quickly and I will let you know that my dream has come true, and I felt like Elizabeth Bennett in Pride and Prejudice when I was proposed to by Matthew whilst having a picnic in the country. It was a moment I will never forget and I felt on top of the world.

We took some pretty epic photos of the country and I thought I’d share!

We treated ourselves to a few nights in our own little cottage – away from the rest of the hotel and it was our haven for the whole duration of our stay.  It was incredibly hard to leave the place – Matt had to drag me out!

I’m dreaming of Dormy House already and I’ve only been back a few weeks. I have a lovely little souvenir that I just have to spray to take me back there – Quietude Calming Mist by Temple Spa ahhhhh.  Lavender is a great relaxer as well, I often dab it on my pillow every night to take me far away to the land of Dormy…..

Have you had any great escapes recently, or are you planning one? I’d love to hear about it.
